Natasha Prestidge is the founder and lead designer of KOUKLA, and has been creating one-of-a-kind, custom gowns since 2007.
Determined and driven, Natasha’s corporate events and marketing career began at 16 as she worked full-time by day and studied by night, cut short by a serious accident that nearly claimed her life. Natasha was left without feeling in her legs for six weeks, before having to slowly learn basic skills and put one foot in front of the other at only 19.
Finding solace during her recovery in creating storyboards with fabric swatches from designer fabric house Tessuti, in Sydney, Natasha’s creativity and lifelong passion for design saw her leave the corporate world in exchange for the one that she had dreamt of. Her life now in perspective, she studied fashion design by night, working by day in fashion retail on Oxford Street in Paddington, and as a stylist on fashion advertising and editorial shoots across Sydney.
Fast-forward to 23, Natasha met her husband and found herself in the wide world of weddings and bridal. When she couldn’t find a bridesmaid dress to suit her wedding vision, she simply made her own, which landed on the cover of Real Weddings magazine a few brief months later. Her talent discovered and passion truly unlocked, Natasha went on to fulfil over 400 orders for that exact bridesmaid dress for bridal parties around the world.
She kept designing, and in 2012, Natasha booked five brides and formally launched the KOUKLA brand/label. She now works with up to 30 brides each year from across Australia and overseas to create bespoke gowns that align with their vision, wedding theme and colour palette perfectly.
Natasha believes that every bride feels most beautiful when their dress reflects their personality, and draws on her styling background, fashion design experience and sheer passion to create something truly special. The KOUKLA experience is unique, intimate and personal – a journey that will be remembered for many years to follow.
